BMW Brings Spider-Man Mobility to the Big Screen

Quick answer: BMW has partnered with Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: Brand New Day, bringing the BMW iX3, BMW 5 Series Sedan and a special BMW iX3 Flow into one of the world's biggest superhero franchises.

BMW is taking modern mobility into the world of Spider-Man with a global entertainment partnership tied to Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The collaboration places the BMW iX3, the first model in the Neue Klasse, and the BMW 5 Series Sedan inside the film's story, connecting future-forward vehicle technology with a global fan base.

A New BMW Era Meets a Brand New Day

The partnership arrives at a key moment for BMW, as the brand introduces the Neue Klasse as the beginning of a new mobility chapter.

In the film, the BMW iX3 and BMW 5 Series are not only visible as product placements. They are woven into the narrative, helping showcase features such as advanced driver assistance, BMW Panoramic Display, Sport Mode and premium interior technology.

Creative idea: BMW connects its own “new era” with Spider-Man's new chapter, using entertainment to make advanced mobility feel more cinematic and culturally relevant.

The BMW iX3 Flow Gets a Spider-Man Makeover

To celebrate the film, BMW created the BMW iX3 Flow – Spider-Man Brand New Day, a one-off vehicle developed in collaboration with Sony and Marvel.

The car uses dynamic graphics and full-colour E Ink Prism elements to bring Spider-Man's visual world to the vehicle's exterior.

Inspired by the superhero's movement and energy, the animated exterior transforms the car into part of the story rather than a static promotional object.

Spider-Man Arrives Inside BMW Vehicles

BMW is also bringing the partnership directly to drivers.

From July 27 to August 10, drivers in participating markets with suitably equipped BMW vehicles can access a special Spider-Man animation on their Control Display.

The experience includes a full-screen animation, music and ambient lighting effects, creating a branded moment inside the car itself.

“The Big Screen” Teaser Film

The campaign also includes a teaser film titled “The Big Screen.”

The spot follows a father and son watching news about Spider-Man while their BMW iX3 charges. When Spider-Man suddenly appears on a skyscraper and lands on the car, the vehicle's features become part of the story without overtaking the entertainment moment.

The film was developed by Jung von Matt Hamburg with BMW, produced by Parasol Island and directed by Hot Icarus.

Why the Campaign Works

  • It aligns two new chapters: BMW's Neue Klasse launch connects naturally with the film's “Brand New Day” theme.
  • It goes beyond product placement: The cars are integrated into the story and campaign experience.
  • It uses vehicle technology creatively: The iX3 Flow turns the car exterior into a dynamic visual surface.
  • It reaches fans inside the product: The in-car animation gives BMW drivers a direct branded experience.
  • It connects innovation with entertainment: Mobility features are presented through a cinematic world people already love.

The Brand Lesson

Entertainment partnerships work best when the brand has a clear role inside the story.

BMW does not simply attach its logo to Spider-Man. It uses the film's world to demonstrate movement, technology and a sense of future-facing confidence.

That makes the collaboration feel less like a traditional co-branding exercise and more like a shared storytelling platform.

Bottom Line

BMW's Spider-Man: Brand New Day partnership shows how automotive brands can use entertainment to make innovation more emotional and memorable.

With the BMW iX3, BMW 5 Series, the special iX3 Flow and an in-car Spider-Man experience, the campaign turns modern mobility into part of a global superhero moment.
